My name is Jack Adams, for my sins I am route advisor for the Lands End John o' Groats Association.Mary Laver, who is one of our members, passed on to me your letter regarding her end to end journey by electric wheelchair. I applaud your stance on safety, as we at the Association preach this to our many members. To this end I would appreciate any legal advice you can offer on travel on the highways. 55% of the people taking on this challenge are cyclists, 25% walkers and the rest is split between motorists, motorcyclists and other bizarre forms of transport, such as traction engine, push and go scooter and relay running. Only last year we had three police officers from the Bath area who cycled from LE to JOG in 17 days, they were presented with certificates at our presentation weekend this January at the Toorak hotel in Torquay. So you can see we attract people from all walks of life, some raise vast amounts for worthy causes, while others do it simply for the challenge.I hope you can assist me in keeping our intrepid travellers as safe as possible, I am attaching my advice sheet that goes out with every route pack, any advice on additions to this would be appreciated.
