Tuesday 16th October 07.
Today, here in Newcastle, I have woken to a beautiful Autumn day. I am lucky enough to have trees at the bottom of my garden thanks to a main line railway. I just love trains.
So what have i been doing over the past few days in regards to this challenge?
A lot can be learned from reading the many, many web sits that E2E'ers have written. I try to read as much as i can. One web site I came across was a bunch a guys doing the E2E and had a video camera which they had recorded part of their trip, including the sign post at Lands End minus the head. They had refused to pay for the sign bit to be added. This is what happens when someone buys a bit of England such as Lands End. I will pay up when it comes to my turn. Anyway, back to the film. I found the film of great interest and use, as i got a glimpse of what some of the terrain is going to be like that I shall passover. To those who have not done the E2E, the film dhows a variety of landscapes from main highways with a cycle path marked, to the flat lands of moors and a ferry. Then the Scottish Highlands with its steep and long hills. The hills will not be a problem to me as my power chair will just glide up them, while my support cycling team will feel every turn of the peddle
One thing that has occurred to me as a subsequence of watching this film, is there the technology in place for me to take a web cam with me and give out live pictures as i take on the E2E challenge? A sort of Big Brother, and yes I do, did, watch Big Brother and i am proud to say it...Well I have sent Tom an email to ask him to find out if this idea of the web cam would work. I will let you all no as soon as I do.
Another thought that i have given time to is, sponsors. Should I have some form of contract drawn up between me and them, a for instance. I will do all that I can to promote their product in exchange for a small donation towards the costs of doing this challenge and a donation towards my charity. You who have done this before, what did you do as regards sponsorship?
Web page. I must get a web page made and registered ASAP. Something else I have never done before. Never needed to. Might just seek help on that one.
My last thought has been on a logo. We all need a logo. The logo will be to go on all tee-shits, hats and the vehicles. Now can anyone design a logo?
Well there you have it, today's thoughts on paper. I am going to now start on the business plan. Must visit a few more web sites for ideas.
To all E2E'ers, i wish you well and thanks for leading the way for us to follow. To all E2E'ers who are doing it in 2008. If you hear someone shout "Watch your backs, wheelchair comming through", it will probably be me overtaking you on a long steap hill"
Now where is that spell checker?
