Change of Charity

In view of the withdrawal of support of Arthritis Care on the 4th April 08, I now wish it to be know that after speaking to Muriel Armstrong, Trustee of Kenya Acorn Project (KAP), KAP is now officially my chosen charity for my ‘Lands End to John O’Groats challenge.’ Muriel and I have worked closely together on many KAP projects, and feel that with this E2E Challenge, the rapport will continue

So who is KAP you might well ask? Visit the web site http://www.kap-kenya.com/

KAP is a North East of England registered charity No 1076753 (!999).
They work with the Community of Ndhiwa in Western Kenya improving the access to health and education. To date they have: set up a small community hospital that is being developed into a total patient care centre for people infected with and affected by HIV and Aids, introduced a school health & community outreach programme introduced a school building programme in 5 schools, opened the Acorn Nursery, sponsoring 47 children through primary and secondary educations and provided water and sanitation for schools and communities. There are volunteering opportunities in both areas.

This work would not have been achieved without the generous support of the many sponsors and donors KAP has received over the years. To continue and develop the work this continued support is vital.

Mary’s challenge and her support of KAP, will raise the awareness of KAP and the needs of the community of Ndhiwa and any funds raised will help to make a significant difference for the people of Ndhiwa.

If you feel you would like to donate to KAP on behalf of this E2E Challenge you can do it in two ways, by going to the JustGiving we page on this blog or by donating to Mary and her team along the route.

Thank you for your interest.
